A Lovely Thought

The 'Girls' next door didn't know I have been unwell.  Nor did they know I had been craving Cake.

They DID know that DH had been 'quietly' bringing their Bins in ever since they moved in to the back Unit.

And Yesterday they appeared on the front doorstep with a Fresh out of the Oven Home Baked Loaf of Banana Bread.

To say 'Thank You'.

It is a long story but the smell of Overripe Bananas and me - Don't get on too well.  So I avoid cooked Banana anything...

I had just been reading an article about challenging your "Norm" and "Breaking free from a routine built for endurance rather than enjoyment".

So today - Considering this was a Gift from Thankful Hearts.
It was not the day to say
"I don't eat Banana Bread"

The article I had been reading concluded with
"choose the unknown ... And sometimes, just sometimes, it’s absolutely delicious."

See you 'round

They have been our Best Ever Neighbours for 45 Years.
But now they are "Looking After their Future Selves"

They have been quietly 'there' through all of what Life has thrown at Us.
And we for them.
We have watched Our Kids grow up and Marry and have Children of their own
We will miss them greatly - after all...
Who will Bring Our Bin in? and Collect Our Mail when we are away?

So, With Hugs and Tears we said Not 'Goodbye' but 'See You'
- Looking forward to the promised "Coffee at the New Place."

May

May 3rd :
This tiny little ball of fluff is Logan.

The newest member of the Family -

I think  DS#2 is going to have his hands full!

May 16: Happy Anniversary -

This year we managed a Weekend Getaway to Healesville.
Lunch at The Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice-Creamery and Dinner at RACV Banyalla Restaurant.

We were going to go to Healesville Sanctuary but Sunday's weather was so wet we doubted that even the Ducks would be out!

If Spring is time to clean the House, then Autumn must be the perfect time to clean the Computer...

19,961 Files taking up 93.32 GB.
And that was just so I could continue with the Great Photo Purge of  2024!

May 25
This giant Meccano Set is a Storage Hoist for DS#2's Garage.

In a perfect world with perfect conditions it may have 'just' taken a weekend.

but a solid week of work and a few headaches later, not only had the Christmas Tree and other rarely used items been hoisted up to the ceiling.
He also had extra access ports into the roof
(No more Tradies traipsing through the house!)

Our Street has been far from tranquil these past few months, with new Townhouses being built so lots of Tradies trucks as well as a regular Bus service.
But today they blocked off the street, brought in bigger trucks and replaced 3 Power Poles.

Time to say 'Good bye' to one of the more "Interesting" characters in our street.

This piece of fun mysteriously appeared a few years ago and ... although we haven't named him he has been very much part of our street.

Sadly his Pole is one of those being replaced.

So that's a wrap from Our Place for May.

Gone Forever ...

It was once a New Home in a New Housing Estate.
Built with Hopes and Dreams of a Family to share.

The elderly owner - All alone when we moved into the street, taught me how you can live your Senior years with Grace and Good Humour.

She eventually moved to be with her Son in Queensland and I missed those conversations at the Gate.

Today, The heavy equipment came in and reduced it to a pile of rubble - to be taken away and Hopefully, Recycled.

More of Our Street's History - Gone forever.

Another pair of 2 Story Townhouses are taking it's place.
What Hopes and Dreams will come and share our Street?
We may never know, because Unfortunately, these Homes no longer come with Conversations at the Gate.
