And so it begins ...

I have lived in Reservoir all my life and the one question constantly asked during my school years was... "Which side of the line are you on?"

The Train line has divided the Suburb for 130 years and, for some it was very much a "Them and Us" attitude.

Construction on the Level Crossing Removal has begun with "Site Establishments, Geotechnical Investigations and Relocation of Services."
In other words they have erected a fence around some equipment and started digging holes in the ground.

And this will be our lot for the next Two Years while they build a new station and Sky Rail Bridge over one of the most congested road/rail Intersections in Melbourne.

Not too many Locals will be heartbroken over the rail going over the road.  If they provide a Sparkly New Station and Plaza anything like the Artists Impression

- We will ALL be very Happy!


And what makes ME happy is ... Where we live there are FIVE other ways home by Public transport that DO NOT involve going through Reservoir Station!

My DD was doing some Furniture re-arranging the other day and apparently Artemis was very pleased that the Telescope had been moved closer to the window and within reach of her scratch post.

So maybe, she can finally answer the Question that she has been pondering....

Another Goodbye

It was a beautiful day for a drive, but my heart was heavy as it was not one I had imagined I would be taking quite so soon.

Today I said Goodbye to my Favourite Aunt.

Funerals are an odd mix of Grief and Joy - within the sadness there was laughter and song.  Catching up with Cousins I had not seen since ... the last funeral. 
As one said as he embraced me firmly "We really must stop meeting like this!"

Cake Decorating - Leucadendron

Leucadendrons are part of the South African Protea Family that have made themselves at home in Melbourne.

The Flowers (Bracts) last a long time making them an ideal filler for floral arrangements. These plants look after themselves, don't mind being chopped back,  AND once established they are Drought Proof - Perfect!


ONE of these flowers is made from Sugarpaste - The others are from my Garden.

Our Tutor for Saturday's Workshop was the exceptionally talented Sue Oteri who specialises in Australian Native Flowers, as well as some that now call Australia home.

The afternoon was more relaxing than others I have attended, with this easy flower coming together quickly.

My flower is a little more "Full Blown" than the ones in the garden but will make a good Feature Flower in a Native Bouquet one day.

Travelling in Victoria - Healesville Sanctuary

Just one hours drive will bring you into the beautiful Yarra Valley with its rolling hills, Vineyards, the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Healesville Sanctuary.

If you only have a short time in Melbourne and want to see and Interact with Australian Animals then I would recommend a trip to The Healesville Sanctuary.

Good Morning Wednesday

"Morning has broken like the first morning, Blackbird has Spoken...." 

- well, it was actually a Magpie that Carolled in the Morning 

But it did wake me up and I did grab my camera.

Because I was not going to miss this for anything!

when each wave is bigger and more majestic than the last.

Two days was not nearly enough!
